A narrative can simply be someone’s life story. It can reflect on how one chose their identity and who they are today. Each life story has an important part in who we are, and that is clearly stated in Julie Beck’s “Life Stories”. Beck Quotes Dan McAdams to get her point across that “Life stories do not simply reflect personality. They are personality, or more accurately, they are the important parts of personality, along with other parts, like dispositional traits, goals, and values.” (Beck, quoting McAdams) For Beck and McAdams there is a connection on how narrative can influence one and their personality. The same goes with Alyssa Ehrenfried who uses a part of her own and someone else’s personal narrative to reflect on themselves and become who they are. Alyssa states “…it shaped me to be a better person so I don’t have to end up like he ended up, and doing the not so good things, I can do the good things and learn to appreciate the little things more…” (Ehrenfried, 1:50). Both show and give proof that the basis of your own narrative story or even someone else’s can shape your personality. Narrative is your own story and it is what you make of it. Who your are is from your own narrative, who you become is from who you are.

You are on the right track. Good job! I would recommend replacing that vague “it” in your second sentence with something specific. I would also recommend adding more context to the introduction to Ehrenfried’s quote. Your random reader will wonder what she’s talking about.
